Mixed reactions to unlawful occupation amendment bill
Some organisations have labelled the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation Amendment Bill as anti-poor. The Department of Human Settlements announced on Thursday that the proposed amendments will go out for public comment for the next sixty days. They seek to halt the unlawful occupation of private or public owned land and property, as well as illegal evictions.
