* EFF leader Julius Malema now plans to appeal his five-year prison sentence. But the court has denied leave to appeal his conviction.

* Speaking to party members and supporters outside the court, Malema claimed an “invisible hand” controlled proceedings.

* The Madlanga Commission zoomed into several cases where EMPD officials faced IPID investigations over alleged acts of criminality. This includes the theft of precious stones worth millions.
