High risk groups hail new HIV jab
High risk group for HIV have welcomed government’s plan to roll out the anti-HIV injection, Lenacapavir soon. Vulnerable communities such as sex workers, adolescent girls, young women and men who have sex with men, say this could be a game changer. However, they are urging government to ensure proper education and awareness campaign are put in place. Lenacapavir is administered twice a year to HIV negative individuals to prevent infection. The country has approved and received the first batch, comprising of over 37 000 doses donated by the Global Fund.
