Heavy rain left parts of New Zealand’s North Island inundated on Sunday, April 12, as Cyclone Vaianu made landfall.
According to reports, a state of emergency was declared in several regions, including Whakatane, Hawke’s Bay, and Waikato.
Footage here shows flooding in Thames.
The MetService said Cyclone Vaianu is expected to move south over the Bay of Plenty on Sunday afternoon and Hawke’s Bay on Sunday evening, passing west of the Chatham Islands on Monday morning.
