War in the Middle East threatening food security for Pacific and South Asian children


The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has triggered a wave of food insecurity across South Asia and the Pacific, with the World Food Programme monitoring an increase in deadly child wasting conditions.

World Vision says many Pacific Islands are now reliant on imported food, which means international pricing increases can be devastating.

Some South Asian countries are already rationing fuel, but World Vision says Papua New Guinea has zero days of oil reserves.
