US and Chinese officials have reached a framework agreement on resolving TikTok-related issues, a development reportedly to be confirmed in a September 19, 2025, call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The deal was made in the Spanish capital, Madrid, during the fourth round of talks in four months to address strained bilateral trade ties as well as the deadline for TikTok’s divestiture. Trump earlier said on Truth Social that the talks had gone “very well”. Beijing confirmed a framework agreement, but said no deal would be made at the expense of Chinese companies’ interests.
