UN warns military spending threatens global peace

That’s the message from a new report launched by the United Nations Secretary General that finds that global military spending hit a record high of $2.7 trillion in 2024, soaring more than 9% from 2023. The report titled “The Security We Need: Rebalancing Military Spending for a Sustainable and Peaceful Future” sounds the alarm of a dangerous move away from the principles of the United Nations Charter.
